Back from Spain!
Last week The Quique Escamilla Band played at WOMEX16 in Santiago de Compostela. Our showcase went great and we spent the rest of the week meeting inspiring musicians and progressive people who work hard to promote music from all over the world.
As much as I love to travel it feels great to be home and releasing some new music. This Friday, Nov 18th a new side-project from Jerry Leger releases an album like no other.
The Bop Fi’s is something completely different conceived by prolific Canadian songwriter Jerry Leger with the same open-door-live-off-the-floor studio approach that contributed to The Del Fi’s Rock & Roll record “Crowd Pleaser”, but this time with Bebop heads and spoken word.
“The Piano Went Frantic” with music written by yours truly was the first pre-released song from the 10 song record “The Bop Fi’s: Don’t Lose Your Beauty”.
Each of the players brought a song or two to the session, Jerry brought a note-book full of poetic verse, and alchemy provided the rest. Aaron Comeau and his studio The Trailer insured that it became a record.
